I'm with you on pretty much everything you wrote, though I have managed to avoid the gear-chase. I'll probably purchase more stuff as time goes on, but for now I'm happy with my protank and spinner.

Protank 2s and 3s (pyrex) are my main tanks, but I like the evods for portability and structural integrity (pocket), and smaller capacity.
