    God mod 180 cloud builds?

You don't specify the wire gauge used... which is critical (from this perspective) to best efficiency. If you were to (arbitrarily) limit the heat flux (HF) to under 400 mW/mm2, then the most efficient gauge for your build would be 28. 28 gauge would, at 0.5Ω net resistance / 180 watts...

Aspire Subohm battery - safe at 1.6ohm?

Welcome to ECF, drjaking... You are correct, a mech will apply wattage based on net resistance and voltage, while a regulated mod - if capable - can "force" wattage above Ohm's law formula values... handy to compensate for less than optimal builds or obtain a higher heat flux value (coil...

Steam Engine Heat Flux Wattage Question

It's a bit late  ... but I just noticed a typo in post #3. In the resistance/wattage/heat flux listing: "With the 28 gauge, which you seem to have on hand, you might want to consider a dual parallel build at 0.5Ω to 0.7Ω. Values are (respective): 0.5Ω / 35 (heat flux of 311 mW/mm2)...

    coil question

Doh... I believe you have it. Been so long since I've used a clearo, I've erased them from memory. ;-) I recall seeing a high temperature silicone rubber (transparent vs. the usual opaque white) grommet, available on some vendor page in a bag of ten, that is, ah... "tasteless"?

    coil question

You don't need any electrical short "insulation" if you're using resistive heating wire, like Kanthal A-1. When heated, Kanthal wire (iron-chromium-aluminum) produces a self-generating, protective oxide layer called aluminum oxide or alumina (Alpha-Al2O3). This insulative layer is both...

    RDA Tri coil build

At the time, I bought several, for myself and for gifts... all they had was the $23 one. The newer ones - the "Ultimate" and "3D" weren't available at the time. A friend recently bought the 3D... it's very nicely made and although I didn't subject it to any testing against the DMM/Half-Ohm or...

    Mechanical battery question

Ahh... the joys of sorting battery BS from fact. ;-) Nick, where did you see battery specs where it's rated with a lower resistance limit? Unless they're talking about resistance required to load to the MCCD - and 0.4Ω ain't it - to rate a loose battery with an allowable minimum resistance...

Replacing a broken switch magnet, noob question.

If you have a method (dial or digital caliper - machinists rule) of measuring the ID/OD/thickness... Dennis, AKA Fat Daddy Vapes, can probably match them from another application.

    RDA Tri coil build

This is long... but I'm sharing the who & why as much as the what. I'm very particular about accuracy... doesn't matter if it's a less critical 1.5Ω, or a near-dead-short serious 0.10Ω. I want repeatable, reliable accuracy. My thinking was probably much like yours is now. As a one time...

    RDA Tri coil build

    1. Sure... it's 20 cents worth of wire. If they fire fairly evenly, you're good to go. 2. Not really. 3. Not a major safety concern, unless... as supertrunker mentions, you don't have the amperage to support the net resistance. 4. A DMM can be a bit sketchy with RDA measurements...

    RDA Tri coil build

Guessing on your wire gauge at 28, and running some numbers through Steam Engine... you'd have to be off by a good bit from your median 1.5Ω coil. Assuming I did the math correctly... ;-) In wire gross length, that would be 11.2mm less for the 1.3Ω and 11.1mm more for the 1.7Ω. As each...

Would you buy this acrillic unregulated box mod for US$35?

Well... they certainly are, ah... colorful - and ripe for LED illumination. ;-)

26650 battery Max Discharge, and Max Pulse??

MCCD, or maximum continuous current discharge is the amp rating for a continuous, no time limit, discharge, while MCPD or MMCD (pulse or momentary... same thing) is an amp discharge rate in 'X' time.... 5 seconds, 10 seconds etc etc. Sometimes it's a full minute. Problem is, they seldom...

    help me, help me!

Reminds me of member "vapero's" avatar. Normally, I'd say that's a not-so-clever idea, but at 1.8Ω, you're not pulling much. Instead I'll just say, If your medical is paid up... don't let me slow your roll. ;-)

Interesting build you got there Slippy. Any issues with the slowish heat capacity? PM inbound. ;-)

Would you buy this acrillic unregulated box mod for US$35?

Interesting. What's the brand name? "Ωson Gemini"? I can't seem to find it (or anything remotely like it) in a Google search.

    help me, help me!

Although I'm not real comfortable with the phrase "straight off an 18650 cell" (what exactly does that mean?)... That's what a mech mod is - a battery holder/circuit normally open/press to close, "switch". At 4.2v with a 0.5Ω "load", you're pulling 35.3 watts.

RDA Always getting rust on one of my RDA's

Assuming no other unstated issues or unusual methodologies... what wire are you using? Kanthal A-1 is made of ferritic iron, chromium and aluminum. When initially dry burned, the wire will develop an aluminum oxide layer that is anti-corrosive, heat conductive and electrically resistive...

    suggestion 18350 dual coil setup

Welcome to ECF, Jackson... If you run 1.0Ω dual parallels, a fully charged 18350 will discharge 16 watts / 4 amps. To make the most of that 16 watts, you need to run 32 gauge wire - 7/6 on a 1/16" (1.588mm) mandrel (44.2mm per coil), to produce a warm heat flux of 285 mW/mm². Too hot or too...
