    You may want to blow it from the battery side so the gunk will get out faster and not be pushed to the insides of the atty. Cleaning it this way already made it better so is already prolonging it's useful lifespan. PS: The force needed to blow an atty is much higher than what a hair drier outputs.

    blowing through battery end burning with peroxide 3% 2/week burning just until red 2-3times/day offtopic: 99% it's a short circuit in the atty and you are measuring the multimeter leads, hence atty not heating up.
