USB charger built in for nicostick

You must read the markings on the chip to be able to find it's datasheet. It's a possibility that the charger will draw no more than a few microamps from the battery so you can leave it permanently connected to the batt. Again we need the datasheet ;)

My DIY e-cigar DSE701 AC-DC power supply MOD!

Nice! Waiting for pictures of the end cap contraption ;). Anyway, why not use a 5V 2-3A adapter and chain a few diodes to drop the voltage a little? I bet LM317 is smoking hot after a few vapes.

    Discussing the NicoStick

14500 are rated at around 900mAh, so 100mAh will charge them in about 10 to 12 hours, so it will be an overnight charger. Slow charging Lithiums is ok. You could have a problem if the charger has a time cut-off. What chip is that charger based on? Maybe you could change it for a faster charge...

LiPo Battery 11.1v with a mosfet at 4.0v output?

in parallel they will both get the full 12.6V (when fully charged) so that's a no-go. in series there will be problems with different atty resistance. But 2 attys on a step-down converter at 5V or 6V would be great.

Exactly what model is the Blu?

Looks like a DSE103 but I could be wrong.

Can this be done with a 510?

and do not think at connecting them in parallel either! danger of explosion. Just use a bigger battery that can fit the enclosure or even better, you can put 3xAAA Ni-MH in there for 3.6(discharged)~4.4V(charged) and pure pleasure ;)

    Building a nicostick??????

It depends on how many Lithium batts you use. If using one batt, then you must compare it to GG nano, SD or others with one batt (regular e-cigs too). In this case it should be the same if using a good contact switch. You are building it for increased batt life. If you want more vapor then you...

    Modder's Printed Circuit Board

There is no way for me to get these chips at reasonable prices. I cannot find them at local distributors nor can afford the shipping prices that maxim or microchip tax. Maybe because Li chemistry isn't used so much here, but that's not an excuse for local distributors. Until I find a solution...

    Modder's Printed Circuit Board

Not helping at all, I look for a charger controller. Just protection is easy to build in the pic, and we should use protected cells anyway. Kinabaloo, what would you use as a current limiter and current sense? I'll try to browse for a PIC lithium charger and see what comes up.

LiPo Battery 11.1v with a mosfet at 4.0v output?

They are spaced for ventilation (25C and 15C can get them hot). I plan on reducing that space, an atty will not draw more than 1C anyway so it should make them around 1.5cm less thicker. I am thinking around 5-6mm per battery times 3.

    Modder's Printed Circuit Board

Cheap, small and with few to none external components. Considering the already planned microcontroller, a charger could be implemented in software, but a dedicated small charger chip is safer.

LiPo Battery 11.1v with a mosfet at 4.0v output?

Found two cheap batt packs too: DealExtreme: $14.79 1500mAh 11.1V 15C Rechargeable Lithium Battery Pack This can be dismantled and put in parallel. Nice batt pack, can deliver 15x its rating (15C) so it's good for 1A. and this one: DealExtreme: $26.27 Mystery 4.2V 2650mAh 25C Lithium...

    4X AA 1.2 volts for 4.8 volt 801 burner

4 NiMH batts will produce 5.76V when fully charged, falling down to 4.8V near depletion. You will have to consider this. Here is a video of a 901 3xNiMH NicoBox mod for reference MPJY0plzS8I

LiPo Battery 11.1v with a mosfet at 4.0v output?

I used it as a car adapter, but I completely forgot about it until I saw this post. Sadly it is to big to put it into a nicobox mod. Still a home-made 4-5-6V 1.5A version could be made using a PIC, coil, mosfet, diode and capacitor. The above product is just rugged and easier to use. I'll order...

LiPo Battery 11.1v with a mosfet at 4.0v output?

You were right. 7 hours continuous! That should make a few days of normal vaping. The key piece is the step-down regulator, you can get already built quality ones pretty cheap too. This one fits the example perfectly: DealExtreme: $9.27 Hobbywing 5V/6V 3A Switch-Mode Ultimate BEC (UBEC) It's...
