    Why drain the batts?

Sorry, didn't get it. You are right, one would notice first that it doesn't vape.

LiPo Battery 11.1v with a mosfet at 4.0v output?

Sorry to bump in. To make that pack work (11V and 3.3Ah) efficiently you would need a step-down voltage regulator. If designed properly you can get around 80% efficiency. The math is simple: 11V 3.3Ah pack is 36.3Watt stepping it down to 4V for example will be equal to a 4V 9.075Ah battery...

    Why drain the batts?

No, it will not vape but if the protection doesn't kick in then the battery is still drained. Of course there is protection built in, so that isn't a problem. The led should blink.

NicoStick w/ Ni-MH or alkaline batteries?

It works, and pretty good I might say. MPJY0plzS8I Edit: 3 x NiMH have ~4.32V (1,44V times 3) when fully charged

    Modder's Printed Circuit Board

I just went to microchip to order a few charger chips and guess what? 25 chips cost 14$ and shipping and handling fee is 34.20$ for a total of 48.20$ I am searching for alternatives right now as I do not intend to waste money. For this price I can get 20 chargers from DX...

    Why drain the batts?

Everything sounds good but this part: Only Acid and Nickel chemistry is allowed to be topped up, Lithiums stay at 4.2V at least a week after being charged. Nickel must be topped up (trickle charged to keep its charge, they discharge fast), acid batteries clean their electrodes if a little...

    Facts about the RN4081.

Sure, while at it, here is my nicobox too. Edit: Put there a RN4081 with 801 cap too ;) Picture of the two attys: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/atomizer-mods/20960-rn4081-atomizer-901-connector.html#post351782

    RN 4081 - Underrated?

I really kick the 4081 attys, only dripping. 2 months and killed 1 atty after the first 3 weeks. Then another one died together with a new battery (remained on, killed the atty and the batt). For the last 5 weeks am using the same atty with a nico box with 14500 batt and USB connector for home...

    Q: ecig for VG

Actually I've found that my 3 current RN4081 attys don't like my VG 0 nic juice but the generic 901 atty from ebay and the 901 atty from tec uk vapes like hell with it. Maybe you could try a different 901 atty first?

    Draws/puffs per ml

I drip, so I get around 15 puffs per 2 drops using a RN4081. Never used a cart so can't say anything about that. Voted for 175 puffs per ml.

Hi voltage without (hopefully) the meltdown

I've tried both the fixed voltage regulators (7805) and variable (LM317) rated at 1.5A and they got hot by just a single 6-7 seconds puff. I wish you good luck, but don't neglect the regulator as it will overheat the batteries.

    Modder's Printed Circuit Board

I like mine surface mounted so that if I drip too much the insides stay clean. Also, do not forget that we can make them double sided and/or even put mode together connected by a data bus. A basic one with charger and addons for more advanced solutions.

    Modder's Printed Circuit Board

I am thinking about cramming in a FTDI chip too to allow for USB communication to setup the micro by serial communication. It could show up as NicoSmart in device manager ;) Then just pop open a terminal window and talk to your cig :D We are doing this for ourselves, why not put the best in...
