Yes it is used for stopping leakage from running amuck. Works great for that. I did actually have it work for that on my Nico-Drip at 5 Volts 2 times now.
Although my sister is the one using this idea we came up with. forget how we came up with that but she snagged my ferrules now I used to own...
Hi Dubs58,
misterD is actually referring to the mod my sister made for me (Nico-Drip 5 Volt) and not my Duracell mod. I realized that when I looked at the link posted.
And thanks for saying what they are for and where to find them I totally missed that part of the question being so...
It`s actually pretty basic under the hood. But yes that baby isn`t coming back apart without a grinder. JB welded everything up there.
I would have taken pictures but it really wouldn`t have showed much. Like I first JB welded the battery springs in place let that get hard then once I set the...
The weather here is rain every day and Hot and Humid the rest of the time so all painting is on hold.
Here is the 5 Volt using a Texas Instruments TO220-3 Regulator. Also has a Black Horn style switch. And uses two 14500 in series.
Hits very good. :w00t:
Tight fit in there going 5...
Nice job on that mod. Looks like you will be set with a reliable one to take out with you now without frightening the good people. Well most of them that`s normal anyhow. :toast:
I love tearing apart old electronics and new ones as well. Even remotes they have nice battery springs in there...
Hope it serves you well. I miss it. But am currently trying to get a 5 volt box going to help me move on. I will post pictures when finished. It`ll be a few days though. Going to paint it possibly. All and working on a juice feed version as well.
That lanyard can be shortened to...
Ut-oh once I went 5 Volt the 3.7 volts just don`t cut it for me. Fun mods to make still but now I have to use LR atomizers on them. 5 Volts rock. Nice mod. :thumb:
Did you install a LED? Can`t see one but that doesn`t mean it`s not there.
Well actually I believe back then when this was discovered it wasn`t readily available to just buy the connectors. Since the first post they have started selling connectors now for the devices.
But then there will still be the modders out there that just may use it. To each their own.
I found that sticking a box mod in my pocket is just like a way to turn it on. But there is a fix. Just trim down that on/off switch this helps with the turning on that occurs in the pocket and is just as easy to use it when you do want it on.
Yep I`ve thought it when I seen them at dealextreme. Don`t think it will work but can`t stop myself from thinking it every time I see one.
This one at dealextreme cost $5.72
DealExtreme: $5.72 Car Cigarette Lighter Socket Rechargeable 0.5W Mini LED Flashlight (Red)
Well I Love it. Looks like a close relative to my 18650 mod. :toast:

Also wanted to add they can be easily decorated with pictures like out of a magazine. In post 14 here it shows mine like that...
Using 2 batteries or one?
2 batteries using the 14500. You would do it like this post but with the 3 X AA box. The rest is the same.

Have yet to have one fail me. But then I`m not a good tester with so many mods.
I think a bunch to do with this switch life is actually how long it`s passing the current. My normal hit is 4 sec. Now if it was 8 sec. I`d think that would be hard on my switches. :(
Nice job on the mod satellitedon. :thumb:
My next one will either be a juice feed or a 5 volt. Not sure just yet. If it is a juice feed I have no trouble with putting a hole in the box. But have thought a Button type device could work just as well.
Not sure which way I`ll go there yet myself.
To get that box to pop apart I used Channel Locks to squeeze the device easy and had it rapped in News paper to stop it from marking it.
Squeeze it easy in a couple spots at the glued on section and slightly just towards the open area as well. Once one side comes free after possibly several...
