Ok. Thanks for the detail. I'm a coder, but flunked digital design because I was drinking beer and chasing women. You are saying that there is too much complexity in the task of assigning various levels of feedback from the digital pot to whichever of (say 5) led's it should light up using...
I always get frustrated thinking about the 'oxidation' part of the wick build. Oxidize is just a really nonspecific verb, I hate it, it really messes me up. My simple mind wants a verb that means 'heating and applying flame to render nonconductive'.
Not everyone agrees that ss mesh alone is the whole answer. Michal is part of a team working on a modified wick solution that has good results and satisfied folks too. You should browse their project website, google translate will help you with the language barrier.
michal,
I checked out everything on the website in your signature. Looks extremely well done and with full disclosure of all the specs. Also, it's just extremely beautiful. Thanks for sharing you hard work with the world!
I've admired these for a while myself. Just pondered this for a few minutes and I think these are acrylic pen blanks turned on a lathe. Don't know if that heps you, but it might.
OP, how are you thinking about implementing an led voltage display? Does the digital potentiometer board allow you to set increments through jumpers, or is that preset? I really like the idea of volts up and down buttons or something with 'solid' increments better than a thumbwheel.
Yeah, u basically cannot buy a small lcd display voltmeter chip for less than about $45 anywhere. That's a price pretty much nobody wants to pay. If you could get them for like 10 bucks you'd already see them in lots of mods. I think Para was just hoping for a lightning strike.
Dan it looks good, the only thing that jumped out at me was that the o-rings were already on in the first photo, which is not what it will look like outta the box...
LOL. They make colored but it is all (even clear) high-dollar in sheets. I've priced it for a chair mat thingy for my office chair in deep pile carpet. Could never find anything 4'X4' less than 250 beans!
