Glycerin is hygroscopic - it pulls moisture into itself. A more finely atomized vapor could result in a stronger "drying" effect.
You'll need to leave a bit longer tail with the rayon - enough to get under the juice ring. Otherwise, when the rayon wicks up it will lift up out of the channels...
Thanks for the reply, Jeremy - I was speaking to the thickness of the CC vs the width (what was pulled off to make the 2x coil diameter wick).... sorry it wasn't more clear.
I'm using an Erlkonigin, so the tails have to be thinned out considerably due to the size of the liquid channels.
Wick change after 4 days. Coil was pretty gunked, wick was pretty dark inside the coil. Was still putting out decent vapor, but flavor was down.
New wick, approx 2x coil diameter. Question: Y'all are leaving the thickness of the CC alone, right? Reason I ask is that my 2x diameter wick was...
Make your tails long enough to be captured by the ring, or you'll find them out the the channels and against the side of the bell - sort of like how tencel top doesn't like to mold down.
That's pretty much how I'm wicked in the Erlkonigin right now...you have to thin out the tails a lot so you don't clog the juice channels. You *also* (despite what Quorax says) have to have the tails long enough to go *below* the juice ring, or it'll come out and be sticking out into the side...
