    Chuck vs Lil Chuck questions

If you're using two 3.7v batteries in series, I'm amazed you haven't blown your atomizer yet.

    Chuck vs Lil Chuck questions

Martha - all else being equal, a 510 is going to 'out-fog' other atomizers (in my experience). Higher-voltage vaping means you're going to go through more juice, as well.

    Battery Mod ?

The answer is....maybe. Atomizers are consumables - you may have one last a week, and the next one you pull out of the same package may last you 2 months (I've had both happen). The trick for high-voltage vaping is to keep the atomizer wet - you DON'T want to 'vape it dry'. Take a hit or...

Looks like the trustfires hold up best for the type of usage we'd put them through - thanks for the info.

    Potentiometer?

Tapped into a variable boost or regulator circuit (where adjustment values can vary over hundreds of ohms), it may work. I don't think it would work solely to 'sink' a couple volts, as you're looking at a small ohm value for that.

    Tactile Switch Questions

I recently made a touch sensor switch using the attached diagram as a template, but (obviously) using an atomizer coil instead of a lamp and wire contacts instead of a temp switch (had to work around the limitations of the circuit modeling program). I used a CSD16325Q5 MOSFET from TI - I don't...

    You'd run them in series

    Battery Mod ?

Loki - Honestly, making a Nicostick isn't hard - you just need a few simple hand tools and a modicum of hand-eye coordination. Check out the Nicostick thread at the top of the forum.

    Tactile Switch Questions

Hey, Neko-Neko: I've recently changed from a tactile switch to a MOSFET touch switch. It's only been a couple weeks, but so far, no problems with intermittent firing or anything else associated with the momentary contact switches. I'm really liking it. It should be usable in almost any...

    Share your Soldering Tips Here

Inhalation concerns, most likely - since the atomizers don't get hot enough to re-melt the solder, I'm not very concerned about lead vapor. 20w pencil should be fine - that's what I use with no problems.

    18650 box mod?

where are people getting battery boxes on digikey? what search terms?

The PVMA no more worries for batt connectors!

The PVMA takes the battery connector and puts in an RCA jack. Each type of atomizer would have it's own. So, you end up with ONE battery box and connectors for 401/510/801/901/etc instead of separate battery boxes for each atomizer type.

    Discussing the NicoStick

Where are people getting boxes from on digikey? I've had no luck searching there for battery boxes. Would love it if someplace made an 18650-compatible box...

    Touch sensor switches

Picked up some CSD16325Q5 MOSFETS from TI - they work for the touch sensor switch, but it was a REAL pain to sweat the wires onto the solder pads. Anyone have a source for SON-8 IC holders?

    No-Joy(e) 510 - And a rant aimed at 'YOU!'

I see your point, but I don't see it as any harder than changing a cart while driving, to be honest.

    No-Joy(e) 510 - And a rant aimed at 'YOU!'

I don't even use carts anymore - dripping is easier, IMO. 2-3 drops down the tube and I'm good for 6-10 hits. Keep it wet and you should be fine, IMO. I don't soak, burn or do anything to my attys - I had a 510 go just shy of 2 months with everyday use at 5v before it finally gave up the...

Penstyle 5V USB Passthrough Done, Finally!

Possibly, yes - unfortunately, it doesn't show the amperage it provides. If it doesn't supply at least 1amp (1000ma), it's not going to do you much good. Warp had a link to a 4.5v, 1600ma wall charger in another thread - I think it was at radio shack but unsure.
