    Battery Research (9-Volt Batteries)

A 9-volt battery would be just as wide and deep as two 14500 3.7v and within a millimeter or so of the height. Two 14500 batteries in parallel give you 1800 maH vs 300 maH from the 9v. I think I'd rather have 6 times the endurance than save a millimeter in height, thanks.

help please- testing voltage, USB, car adapters, etc.

Take the multimeter and set it to DCV. Touch the leads to the outermost pads on the usb connector - you should see 5v. Te get aperage, check the manual for the device - you want at least 1a (1000 ma).

    5v regulator

In all honesty, I feel more heat from my momentary switch than from the regulator.

    5v regulator

I'm sorry that I wasn't clear on which one I was talking about - I figured it was apparent. Perhaps not - but my experience working with SATCOM equipment always leads me to try to have a buffer, just in case. TI hates me - they won't ship over here. Kardjunkie was kind enough to send me...

    1000 mah @ 10 amp is a 10C rate - 6 minutes 'on' time is exactly right.

    5v regulator

Nope, all of my 510s run between 2 and 2.2 ohms. Unless they changed Ohm's law on me, that means that my 2 ohm atomizer being fed by 5 volts equals 2.5 amps, which is more than the Imax of the chip. The 2.2 ohm attys would pull 2.27 amps. I don't care to push devices that close to max, or...

    5v regulator

To be honest, I was looking at the Imax - I could conceivably pop that thing running it at 5v if I put one of my lower resistance 510s on there.

    5v regulator

Nice find on the power modules, h8! It looks like this may be better for our applications, due to a higher max I(out).

    6V to 5V with Battreies?

Unfortunately, no magic 5v batteries - if there WAS one, I think we'd see a whole lot of people buying them!!

I still do that, even with clad tips. I've also lightly roughed a clad tip to get it to tin better - the operative word there is LIGHTLY, of course. Yeah, but with filing/tinning you can get it JUST right...something not always possible with the clad tips. Hmm...I think framitz and I might...

    6V to 5V with Battreies?

From 6v to 5v you could use an inexpensive power diode or a resistor. It's only when you get 3.7v batteries in serial that you need to move to a regulator. Do you have a multimeter, where you can get a resistance reading from your atomizer?

    5v regulator

The only problem I see with that is the constant voltage to the regulator...heat *could* end up being a problem.

    5v regulator

Don't see why you couldn't - although your passthrough then wouldn't work on anything LESS than 5.5v or so.

    I just made a 6 Volt passthrough.

I remember when Stormy was so hesitant about modding, now she's not only a modding fool like the rest of us, but offering help to others!! <sniff> I'm so proud....<sniff> :D
