FDA CDC again grossly misrepresents NYTS e-cig youth usage data to deceive, scare and lobby for FDA deeming reg

I watched this video for the first minute and 15 seconds. As soon as the interviewee responded to a question of what regulations there are on e-cigs with "None. It's the wild, wild west out there!" I couldn't take anymore. I don't want to lose my lunch today.

FDA "Health" Departments all over the country submit identical comments to FDA

Oh joy. :nah: Here is an excerpt that proves whoever wrote this document has no idea what he's talking about: In 2014, Chicago banned the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including e-cigarettes (regulated as tobacco products), within a 500-foot radius of any elementary, middle, or...

Interesting and fairly neutral article in Nature

Ah, that's what I thought he was referring to :) there is nothing on Dr. Farsalino's website about it, not that I could find anyway. I'm sure he had something to say about it though :) I looked at the abstract for that study, and what really jumped out at me was the fact that the cells were...

Please clarify what you are looking for. I think I know what you're referring to, but there are only 8 references in the article.

Interesting and fairly neutral article in Nature

Note the companion article linked at the bottom of the page on regulation: Allow use of electronic cigarettes to assess risk : Nature News & Comment I like this one too :)

Interesting and fairly neutral article in Nature

I like this article :) I think it did a very good job balancing out the debate, while at the same time making our side very clearly heard :) I like that the frequent quotes from Dr. Siegel and others on our side are used to balance the argument, rather than quoted once and then completely...

FDA CDC again grossly misrepresents NYTS e-cig youth usage data to deceive, scare and lobby for FDA deeming reg

I have read the study (thank you Bill!) and would like to point out some glaring flaws/misrepresentations contained within it: Included in their findings, of middle and high schoolers who never smoked, 0.9% have ever tried an e-cigarette, and 0.3% have used one in the last 30 days. The numbers...

What does this mean as far as ordering? (Minnesota Ecig Taxes)

Perhaps they have not begun enforcing it yet? When did they decide that e-cigarettes met the definition of a tobacco product? There may be a 90 day or so lag time for everyone to fall in line. It looks like your vendor will be primarily responsible for the taxes, but if your vendor does not...

No solid evidence that e-cigarettes aid smoking cessation unlike the nicotine patches, gums and medications approved now

I have issue with the line in the thread title as well, mainly because there is evidence - there have been well-conducted clinical trials proving that e-cigs are effective at smoking cessation. Not only that, but there are trials proving that second generation devices are more effective than...

FDA CDC again grossly misrepresents NYTS e-cig youth usage data to deceive, scare and lobby for FDA deeming reg

Got this one by email: http: //cir. ca/news/e-cigarette-use-among-youth It looks like this story's blowing up everywhere now :( let's all prepare for more arguments with people who saw it on the news......

FDA Comment from Attorney General, State of Florida

This has got to be the most hypocritical comment I've seen yet :grr: All but one (the company's age) of the reasons they list for exemption of premium cigar companies also apply to e-cigarette companies. Our industry's companies also tend to have small numbers of employees, produce quality...

    WHO statement on E-cigs.

Disturbing  it's nice to see that they've added an all-out brainwashing campaign to their arsenal... Though on the plus side, it does go to show that they don't have much of a leg to stand on. Hence their need to resort to dirty tricks to get people on their side.

Thank the current administration for difficulty in getting CC sales of e-cigarettes processed

Ah, I have not seen news of this recently, which is likely why I missed it - I missed a lot in my 4-year absence... thank you :)

    WHO statement on E-cigs.

We can indeed! Children are most likely to start smoking when they have parents who smoke. E-cigs have been proven to reduce smoking rates. Since e-cigs will reduce the number of parents who smoke, they will reduce the number of children who start smoking as well! :w00t:

Thank the current administration for difficulty in getting CC sales of e-cigarettes processed

I'm familiar with Operation Choke Point - however, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any evidence of this actually happening to the e-cigarette industry yet. Has any e-cig company or vendor had issues getting funding from a bank due to the bank's disagreement with the nature of...

    Doctor Tipster article on e-cigs

Thank you Sonic :) I edited my post using the link style you shared. Hopefully that will help.

    Get ready for the fallout

Thank you. It says that there is an association between e-cig use and intent to smoke, but it does not clarify whether there was intent to smoke prior to e-cig use. That is an important distinction to make.

    Get ready for the fallout

   Does anyone have access to the full text study on this? From what I understand, according to this article anyway, some kids (who are likely future smokers) are trying e-cigarettes first rather than tobacco cigarettes. That doesn't necessarily mean that...

Economics Professor on the FDA & Kid Gambit

First of all, no one here said that nicotine is "harmless" I don't know where you guys are getting that from. What we are arguing is that it is not nearly as hazardous as the public apparently believes (which is a verifiable fact btw). That is a far cry from saying it is harmless...

Sounds like the doctors may be starting to see the potential.

I'm glad to see the AHA is being more responsible now :thumb: As for the article, this just jumped out at me: E-cigarettes typically contain nicotine and none of the tobacco or tars, arsenic and other chemicals found in traditional cigarettes. The devices are battery powered and produce a...
