I like the torches that you drop a disposable lighter into instead of having to refill with butane. http://www.solder-it.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=111 But i have found that i dont need to get the stuff that hot... the ligher will oxidize the wire enough to take the spring out of it...

As a general rule of thumb, dont use any batteries with the word fire in them. They are typically flashlight batteries. You want high drain IMR type batteries. This is the link to enlightment on batteries...

absolutely... just need to know the amp limit of your battery most IMR 18350's are 6.4 amps so i wouldnt go any lower than .7ohms probably keep it around 1ohm to be safer. I dont use any vv/vw (i.e., kick) on my mechs... i have APVs for that. :)

Its all about battery safety...tons of info on ECF...search Battitude he has some great threads on battery safety. In a nut shell you need to use your volts (assume 4.2 which is a full charge on most Lithium batteries), resistance of your coil, to determine your watts and how many AMPs you are...

What mechanical mods are strongly recommended?

No Bolt - you need to spend as much as it costs to make it safe. Really scary how those things are wired.

it can be done but you need to stay in the safe Ohms range of the device. The MVP will fire below 1ohm but i would recommend staying in the 1.3 - 2.2 range. Its all about wire, wick, and airflow. If you want massive clouds then you need to research the sub-ohm stuff and get a mech. Keep...
