    there are definitely at least two designs of 4081 atomizers that i have come across, some have a serial number printed on the outside of the steel tube, one hole and a wider bridge that work much better than the ones with no serial number, two holes, and the skinny bridge

    another side note, rn4081's do not have a wick, only a bridge and many holes in the ceramic pot to draw juice from the mesh onto the coil. i learned this by disassembling my broken atomizer

    just wondering, but where did you order new atties from, because i just got some new rn4081's from totally wicked and they are a slightly different design from the SE or Njoy's and work waaaaaaaaaayyyyy better. i think it might be because they only have one hole and a wider bridge.

    the purpose of removing the wick is so you can use the atty for dripping, its no wonder its not working with carts, try ditching the cart, and just dripping straight into the atty all the time, i find this to invariably work better than carts. the only downside is that you have to do this more...

    well, i figured i had nothing to lose, seeing as the atty was almost dead, and i just got five backups, and no 4081's are not cartomizers... and it worked. vapor production has been restored almost to like what it was when new, and i discovered that it did indeed have that same basic structure...

    I get black residue too, but my connections are gold plated, so I don't think it could be oxidization, because gold doesn't oxidize.

    Thanks for the info, I doubt it's from lack of juice though, because I dripped it immediately before trying to vape it, and it doesn't really taste like burnt metal, so I'm hoping it will just go away
