Awwww, shucks. I was lucky, jj. I was only in Saudi for three months and spent the rest of my year in GERMANY!!! It was like going home for me and I loved it! I have my grandparents to thank for that. Speaking German and observing German customs was how they lived. Most Germans didn't know I was...

Speaking (or yelling) in German kind of backfired on me when I went to Desert Storm. My oldest wouldn't speak English after I left and my then husband didn't understand German. It was a long two weeks before I could call home and tell my son to stop it!

When I would call my kids by their full names, they knew I was angry. When I yelled at them in German, they knew they were really in for it!
