I looked into patents here in my country when I was still manufacturing. Apparently all you have to do change the dimensions by even just 1 cm and you are no longer infringing on an existing patent. Even smoothening the edges of a sharp corner will save you from infringement. I was advised to...
I think we need to draw a line in this thread between deceptive counterfeiting and clones. I think we can all agree that deceptive counterfeiting should not be condoned. Clone makers sell their products as 1:1 clones or styled and I think this is the topic on hand. Unless the OP shows up...
I used to love my Subtank. Now I love my Crius. Now I love my Griffin. I think when you find your perfect tank, something newer and maybe better will come along.
Don't get me wrong. I am still pro authentic all the way but if they protected their work then clones may have a harder time penetrating the market. I don't know about being afforded reasonable protection and legalities than come with it but maybe they can do it the way tech companies do it...
The Authentic manufacturers can actually use any business model they want whether it is good business or not. It's their prerogative after all it's their product. I think the problem lies in the fact that they don't seem to even try to protect their work.
How I wish that cigalikes were good and performed well. It would be so much more convenient the way smoking was convenient. Sadly, for me it is not enough. Now I have to bring a man pouch with juice, batteries and a backup mod and atty.
I may have not been vaping long enough to know what hitting F5 in the middle of the night is? I hope I don't sound like a silly noob by asking what does that mean?
I look at the China manufacturing in general, based on my own experiences. I guess I did go off topic and should have just stuck to the e cig industry. Maybe they are headed in the right direction when it comes to e cigs.
As a designer, I still do believe in intellectual property rights and...
Like you, I was also in manufacturing and I did actually explore having components subcontracted in China and yes they were cheap. After further meetings with factory owners they did actually inform me that they can use cheaper materials to lower price and that labor costs were negligible.
I...
I agree with you. They are finally innovating and not making money from the R&D of someone else. I love my Crius and it is probably the cheapest one I own.
The metal tube argument is one that I don't really participate in. I stated in other threads, there was more to cloning then just the...
The question is where will they have it outsourced? If it's done in china it will be easier for them to clone it since the manufacturing company will be given full specs. No need to reverse engineer it. They may even quietly clone it themselves.
Maybe I'm wrong but I have yet to see a 10$...
in this thread I will probably resort to just liking what I agree with. Arguments over this topic hasn't changed since the previous threads and I feel I already expressed in full detail how I feel about this topic. No need to get worked up again. It's fun to watch though.
