    ..and my "Eraser"

Hy I want to present my newest mod VV "The Eraser" :).Works with 2x16340, step down regulator, charger built in and sensitive switch with mosfet.

    Question for the experts??

i tested like that but with 18650 li-ion. atty will draw current from battery pack and from charger. If charger have a maximum current set it`s ok .i think it works

    Need mod help bad!!!

it`s no good. work`s but you don`t have a fine adjustment of volts, it`s posibile to have a large steps. You may try to see what happens.

    buck/boost circuit with LTC3113, 1.8V-5.5V max 3A ~96% effectivity

from my experience step- down regulator is easy to calibrate, for step-up is hard, however like he said @CraigHB, if you test, and calibrate wright value, work fine. Very important is Cout, inductor, and Mosfet.

    Passthrough Idea

why you don`t use some battery charger IC, find a lot to buy from farnell.com or mouser. That IC work`s like a current regulator. Connecting directly to USB or 5V power supply, you short the life for battery. exemple: http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/269780/LINER/LTC4052-4.2.html

    My newest mod box VV

Because the new announcement, say: I don`t make this modd in commercial scope, it`s only for me, hobby stuff :D.Post here is to share information with entire world :). It`s a good "database" for new modders this forum. Anyway i don`t have enough time to produce a lot of modd`s:)

:D all i can do for you is :

    My newest mod box VV

it`s made by datasheet schematic, Cout = 300 uF tantalum. all as you need is here LTC3872 datasheet pdf datenblatt - Linear Technology - No RSENSE Current Mode Boost DC/DC Controller ::: ALLDATASHEET ::: also other modification is FB resistor (resistor divider) 1K to GND and 10 K trimer

    buck/boost circuit with LTC3113, 1.8V-5.5V max 3A ~96% effectivity

i use 1 batt 18650 2000mah.work good with atty 2 ohmi or higher.PCB was made by me, i use a mosfet with gatethresold 1 -3V.

    buck/boost circuit with LTC3113, 1.8V-5.5V max 3A ~96% effectivity

ltc3872 i use and is good.you may try some free sample and test :)

    My newest mod box VV

i don`t understand what you want to say :) .My test was made on 1.25, 2 ohmi, 4 ohmi atty..Voltage out have a low drop out around 0.1V - 0.3V depends of atty.At boost convertor is very important inductors value and Cout value for minimal drop out voltage. With 1.25 1.5 ohmi atty work in liniar...

    LM2577 Fail

you are wright :D. Step-up module is good only ptn04050C and you have two options : buy ptn04050C from TI or build a boost convertor with IC :D.Or make a step down with 2 battery

    My newest mod box VV

anyway i modified some values from datasheet schematics ;) to work well

    My newest mod box VV

    I use TSOT-23 package.It`s ok for me :D

    My newest mod box VV

i made order of free sample from linear technology. I tested some other IC like lt1170 or LT1370 with Mos Fet integrated but not satisfied of this. And after i try some other, and this is ok. At 2 ohmi atty i have only 0.2V drop and at 4 ohmi HV5 ai have 0.1V drop down. 2 ohmi ---3.6V out and...

    My newest mod box VV

yep This tube have a boost convertor made with other IC, work with 1 x 18650 battery. LTC3872 from linear technology a very good IC for boost.

    LM2577 Fail

try to find some step-up convert with lowest Vin, about 2.5V minimum to Vin.

    My newest mod box VV

    and tube. It`s VV with step-up convertor.Works from 3.3V to 10V :D

    LM2577 Fail

lm2596 work fine,i made mod with this IC.Anyway lm2596 it`s a step down regulator need 8.4V In (2 series Li-Ion) and lm2577 it`a a step up regulator works with 1 li-ion, but it`s no good for ecigarette. A step-up convertor not work well with 1.25 or 1.5 ohmi atty, it`s need to use 2 ohmi and higher.
