    I'd say as long as the spring can drop (which it will) the battery wont be able to complete the circuit. Cant see how a bottle could effect that.

    I'm also really due for new batts as well.. been a couple of years and I've found myself needing to sand the tops of the batts this week due to putting from arcing. Terrible low hits on a newer reo! Hah . All from the batts.

    I also use just a single coil.. 30x2 fused clapton with 36 wrapped around the outside. Like 5 wraps is around .60ish ohms. Yeah that short chimney of the 0-16 needs a tall large drip tip or it will be too hot.. well for me anyways.
