Any advice on just getting te pheno-l would be great. I'm considering picking it up, but have heard a lot of complaints about it to go along with the good things I've heard. -

A Petri would be nice, but they're $100 not including the drip tip. Sapors do have insulator problems. Don't jump the gun. Velocity is over-recommended and I'm not too big a fan of it. First off - thank you, it's cool to hear someone thinks my work is good, I'm always super critical on it. Secondly, the ribbon cores, once you get the hang of it, are incredibly easy to set up and make. With 28g cores I usually go 5-6 wraps on a 3mm, 6 wraps especially for my Kennedy 24 because it spans over both of the airflow holes on the deck. I coiled up the 15" of 28g/.4mm/square alien and got 3x 6 wraps on a 3mm & 1 6&1/2 wrap on a 2.5mm for a between the post build on the Petri. But...- Tom Forde

Claptons vary widely based on gauge. Yeah a 24/28 Clapton isn't really the best, but for example, a 24g with a 34g & up wrap is a much different vape. I would use 28g as a core wire in a fused Clapton, with a 36-40g wrap to keep the surface area from getting too thick. Claptons aren't over... -

No problem. I'm 99% sure the K22 dragon cap drip tips fit the K24. On Kennedy's website under the "build your own," for DT it says "Dragon (material)," so I think they'd say "24mm (material)," if it was a different tip. -

I concur. You may be hot spotting in one spot before the entire coil heats and not know it, causing a very bad taste, giving the illusion of putting out vapor.
