Some more genny porn. Dug out one of my Silver Dog clones from Fasttech. These babies will get me thru the Vapocalypse.
6/5 28g nichrome80 on 2.5mm jig, 0.8Ω. 300 mesh 33mm wide. Extension tube from Chi You to accommodate 18650 battery. Vaping up some cappuccino.
Never used clapton wire. For a mesh setup i am not sure they would work well. The wire wrapped around the core wire is thin gauge usually, like 34. And those might break when sorting out hotspots.
I've set up gennys with twisted wire and with ribbon. They worked ok,but the coils aren't as...
No i don't use a topper. I have tried in the past to make a wick using two pices of mesh but it didn't go well.
When i rebuilt the DiD last nite, I torched the top half of the wick.
I wound up redoing my Agas and torching the mesh. My own darned fault anyway. I gave the pulsing too much power...
The first couple of pulses are very short. And as all of the wraps start to glow, you can then use a screwdriver or whatever to jiggle them around. I don't think the liquid gets wicked if there isn't some space around the wick.
I don't know what you mean by 'topper'. I've been leaving fill plugs out all of the time, during this lengthy process of learning to build these things.
Discolored juice, and as I got better w building--overwicking. Plus, on a single coil i like 0.7-1.0Ω. So i left the plug out to avoid those...
This BF99 clone leaked. I had the same probs with my Sat clones. Ya get what you pay for, i guess lol
Redid my Agas with a skinnier 2.0mm id coil, 6 wraps of 26g, and only 20 mm of 300 mesh. Leaving some open space around the wick @THE deck. Trying to stop being a baby about using my fill plugs...
I took another stab @ u wicks. This is a BF99 clone **groan**
Popped the first coil. Used a 2mm screwdriver, wound it with 28g nichrome. I used a scrap of mesh that i think was 325. 25 mm wide 50 mm long. Cut on the bias. Made the u wick, threaded it thru the nichrome coil. Attached the leads...
I didn't see a difference when I had 'raw' mesh in the tank. I think juice darkening/coil gunking go hand-in-hand, and depends on the juice and the amount of coloring and sweetener in the juice.
I have never tried cable with a mesh topper. I should maybe buy a couple to try. I stocked up on...
I've broke the wire from annealing as well. That is why i quit doing it.
But in a way, I DO anneal, because I give the coil a few fires. Putting jig back in between fires to straighten it back out, before i wick it.
I melted a few wick insulators. Yeah, wick insulators are not necessary. It is...
Thank You @Vaya
If I were to make a coil with a 2.5mm bit, I would cut a rectangle of mesh about 35mm wide. But instead of cutting with the grain of the mesh, cutting at a 45 degree angle to the grain. Roll it up, it will flex into a 'U'. Perch the ends of the wick on metal tweezers. Torch the...
That is a Nectar. Think that was 28g wire, and 200 mesh cut on a 45 degree bias--like if you folded a napkin into a triangle and cut parallel to that. The mesh seems to get all squirmy and lends itself into being formed into a 'U'
Getting rid of hot legs on that was interesting. Used a...
And the winner of the All-Day-Vape Award is...the Aga T.
The DiD set up--wick was too fat and acting as a crockpot on my juice.
Nectar--great vape, but doesnt clean up well.
After screwing with the DiD for two YEARS, I figured out that a slimmer wick inside the the 3.5mm wick hole worked much...
@Taff Evans I never thought that i would get Petark either. I have a couple of Bliss clones. And the dual-coil dual-wick is where i got decent at it. I like coil building. Even when i wrapped directly onto the wick, I always had an allen key down the wicks, to make them uniform.
I roll the wick...
Another note on 'working too hard'
I had problems with my gennys for a long long time. (i also spent 12 years in college. I don't let go of bones that i am gnawing on very easily. Plus, i just had to google 'knawing' in order to spell it correctly). I no longer try to fire it with juice to see...
My answer to u wicks is that I am not using them right now. Love my Nectar, but i could not really clean it without just recoiling it every time. That is with a mesh u wick.
I have an Avocado packed away. My pet project after the snow starts drifting and all the Christmas crap is put away, is to...
I have been coiling gennys since 2013. I have too many to count--including Van's Line Le and MM Vapors Temons and DiDs.
I think that my mistakes were a result of trying too hard, and following directions to the letter. I was a slave to wrapping directly onto the wick. Therefore, if I managed to...
I love rebuilding too!! And it takes me about 20 min to rebuild my atty.
I love James Joyce. And Faulkner. But then again--i've always been a little 'titched'
Use your regulated devices, until you can acquire a mech mod with a center pin.
The Calvert looks like a direct-to-battery as well.
This is my King clone. 510 connection with a center pin, and insulator. On this mod, it does not matter if the atomizer 510 is flush or not.
Fasttech has King...
