VG is far more viscous, and I assume that's why it feels so much heavier in the lungs. I had this issue when I first started vaping too. For me, I was able to get past it and now it doesn't happen, but I can't say that it would be the same for you, so you might want to consult a doctor.

So long as the mouthpiece on the top of the cartomizer is removable (which I believe it is), you can refill it. Some cartos have plastic mouthpieces, some have rubber. The rubber ones I pull off with my fingers, and the plastic ones, I stick a micro flat-blade...
I have an eVic and it's an okay device. My opinion on it is neutral.
It does everything it's advertised to do, but it's really not the most accurate device in the world, and it is kind of cheaply built.
But I do enjoy the vape it produces, and I haven't sold it because I like the features. :)
Surprisingly I've never gotten headaches or nausea from vaping. My head did spin when I smoked my first Newport and I LOVED that feeling, but I don't get that with vaping.
Anyway, it is due to your nic level. Try reducing to 6mg or 12mg.
