pbusardo couldn't get a voltage reading with one of the madvapes led meters, even at the blue setting, and that would suggest even that setting is pwm.
(I'll try to replicate that, since I have one of those also)
If it is, It definitely has a booster before.
As soon as I can, I'll take a look at...

Should, but it's not uncommon they don't.
The actual discharge rate at which the discharge measurements are made is not a standard. Usually they are done at low discharge rates.
I think most are made for something like 5 hours. The results are latter adjusted for a 1 hour rating.
Tests made with...
Not really.
mAh ratings are taken at specific discharge rates, usually low and related to the the C rating of the battery, not on how you are going to use it.
Although I know people that like it, as I said, I prefer the ~9Watts at 3.7V.
At 3.2V it's too low and at 4.2V too harsh (for me).
That's the beauty of this device and why one starts to appreciate it from the start - a simple device with versatility, without entering the continuous vv leage...
That's fine, and you should continue to do it.
The "early adopters curse" is on my side. A week latter and would have gotten an improved one. But that's just the stuff that happens when you get the very first versions.
(Not that I don't like it it is, anyway, and I'm glad I got it ;))
There's no standard mAh ratings for kr808d-1.
The "standard" as related to the firsts implementations would refer to the usage of a single cell Li-Ion with a 3.7V output.
Since those implementations were not regulated, the voltage actually varied between 4.2V when fully charged to something like...
A very nice analysis and I agree 100%.
The "joint" cut-off thing might have something to do with how the circuit works - If you imagine it has some sort of booster (and I really don't know) always on, and then applies a PWM step-down with 3 different settings on top of that, it makes sense that...
