Hi MK, No the ego doesn't take the smileomizers, altho there might be an adapter of some type he could use, not sure. The XL DAV is about twice as long as the ego, and about the same width. I was an ego girl till I got my first DAV, now they are all I use. Hope this helps. Don't have my XL...- K9Luvr
