Idk about the SVD but the MVP is a solid device. I haven't been vaping a year but I've had the MVP a good six months, was my daily vape, still going strong. Battery life is displayed via the battery icon and it doesn't display current battery voltage. Your ohms should be flashing telling you its firing unregulated since it's under 4v and it doesn't have a buck circuit- CurlyxCracker

Also @MikeNice81, gauze may not be ideal the burnt hits may also be caused by the thin strands not grouped with the rest of the cotton and going dry before the rest.
