Is vaping keeping me from having strep throat?

Not "in" the 50's. From the 50's forward, right to the present day! See this 2006 reapproval of such use of PG by the EPA, especially in hospitals, large transportation centers, eating establishments, etc. http://www.epa.gov/oppsrrd1/reregistration/REDs/propylene_glycol_red.pdf

FDA's comment about nicotine in E-Cigs...

Dayvid, yeah, it looks like the one use of the word "synthetic" in that article was pure ignorance on the reporter's part. He was referring to the FDA's now infamous July 2009 press release, which disingenuously touted finding the presence of "carcinogens" in eliquid (without revealing it...

FDA's comment about nicotine in E-Cigs...

No, it is not true. All nicotine in eliquids is derived from tobacco. "Synthetic" nicotine, while possible to synthesize, would be prohibitively expensive, and is not used. However, I do not believe the FDA actually ever made that particular claim either. Without a link to what you are...

Thanks Tom. Your link is broken, so here it is again: Environmental Health Perspectives: Can Cigarette Alternatives Deliver a Safer Fix?

    A poll about Screwdriver ownership

LOL - I own numerous SDs Prof, but maybe not quite so many as you.

Drip tip adapter to use a 510 drip tip on a 801 atty

Sorry, I didn't realize the ming was any different than most 510/901 drip tips. My adapter worked directly on 801s fine, but with a more standard sized drip tip.

Drip tip adapter to use a 510 drip tip on a 801 atty

The adapter sold by Super T (on the VapeMate page) does also work as an adapter for a 510 drip tip to an 801 atomizer - I know because I had one. It's stainless steel.

Utah Board of Regents 'Smoke Free policy'

I don't think so Rothenbj. Ecig liquids that contain nicotine may be "derived" from tobacco, but they don't contain tobacco, nor do they produce "tobacco vapor". His clarification seems pretty unambiguous to me, that ecigs are not included in the prohibition. It would only be heated tobacco...

Who has been vaping the longest?

I certainly don't qualify as the oldest longtimer here, as I joined in November 2008 but the forum was begun earlier in 2008, I think spring or summer. However, my first ecig was an Njoy penstyle bought at CES in January 2008. I searched for information on the internet then, and found no forums...

    Screwdriver Tanks..

Hey Tinstar, no bother at all: My order was completed a week ago Monday, but late afternoon, and yesterday (Wednesday) there was an attempted delivery at my home (but it's sign for, so I had to go pick it up at the post office today). So not bad at all!

Another NY gem of legislation being proposed

The New York proposal covers smoking in vehicles when children under the age of 14 are present. It does seem doubtful that it will pass this session however, as the Senate version at least is still in committee, and the session is due to end next week. You can follow it if you are interested...

    Screwdriver Tanks..

I'm thrilled to have received my SD Tank today. I tried out the tank atomizers, and although I immediately loved them, the one big problem I had was that I hate using adapters, and I certainly didn't want to switch to any ecig other than my beloved SDs, that I have been using exclusively...

Is it illegal to vape in a car with children?

So far, I'm not aware of any laws pertaining to smoking in cars with children that do include vaping. CASAA does monitor new law proposals pretty carefully, and ought to be aware of anything like that. For example, there is such a new law proposed in New York State, to make it illegal to smoke...

UPDATED New York State Call to Action

Although we're close to safe for this year, just to be clear: Klein's bill in the Senate is identical to Rosenthal's bill in the Assembly. We have been opposing both since last year's session. The two new bills (listed in the OP here) are the ones we would support, that only ban sales to minors.

    IVAQS Project Briefing

I've never disputed that. But what I'm referring to, and reacting to, is not a matter of reasonable differences in opinion. No Julie, I don't. I've personally and directly witnessed it for far too long. And that is what I'm finally so sickened by that I cannot keep it in any longer. And what...

    IVAQS Project Briefing

Sure, mistakes have been made. People do make mistakes. But to blow them up all out of proportion, mixed in with relentless character assasination and other attacks, many unwarranted, all over the ecig internet community, has long gone past "petty" personal differences. We are at the point...

    IVAQS Project Briefing

JW50, I was distressed when I saw that part of Julie's post too, but had to wait to respond, as I did not want to allow my immediate reaction to cause me to post intemperately. CASAA was never "officially" a partner or sponsor of the IVAQS study. If Julie simply meant she is glad that CASAA...

    IVAQS Project Briefing

Unfortunately yes. That "more" is a lot of hatred and spite among and between individuals and groups - some of it going way back, even before IVAQS itself was conceived. I was never involved in that, and am not involved now. But in my personal opinion, the opportunity to obtain and hopefully...

UPDATED New York State Call to Action

Of course Thad, that very broad and vague New York defintion of "tobacco product" has itself always been our "ace in the hole" so to speak, since Rosenthal first introduced her bill in the 2009-2010 session. Had her bill passed (or if it yet passes), she would have instantly regretted how...

    IVAQS Project Briefing

JW50, have you looked at the IVAQS study web page? It's here: IVAQS Project I'm sorry, but I don't have a good idea of when we will have a report on the results, nor much less as to when we can hope that the study will be actually written up for publication. But the facts as I laid them out...
