    What antivirus is it? Your computer may not have enough power to run it all the time. Antivirus programs are notorious for sucking up system reources The lightest weight antivirus/spyware you can run is Microsoft Security Essentials + Malwarebytes Free And it doesn't cost anything ;)

    Weird. Sounds software side (i.e. drivers) because with drivers uninstalled the monitor boots and you never mentioned if you switched the port the monitor was plugged into. If you boot up in Safe mode or VGA it is essentially the same thing, monitor will work as the drivers are not being used...
