Ask your favorite suppliers to remove diacetyl from their e-liquids!

That's great, Helen. I care, though many don't, and it would make a difference in whether or not I ordered from you. For whatever that - or anything at this point - is worth.

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

Kristin, to piggyback onto StormFinch's excellent suggestion, as a representative of the vaping community's current consumer advocacy group, may I ask the official stance of CASAA in re: diacetyl?

Is there any DIACETYL in any of your e-liquid or flavors you use to make your e-liquid?

Oh, they use FA's Hypnotic Mist and Zen Garden so I assumed that was the international supplier of which he spoke.

Yeah, I've already said that I've considered ordering (non-diacetyl, obvs) flavors and juices from Max @ FlavourArt simply because I appreciate the transparency and feel my chances of receiving a diacetyl-free product go up by about a 1000 because of that transparency. Additionally, he answered...

It does strike me as crazy, and crazy-making.

So, again. Also: I'm sick of google and wiki and everything. Anyone have an answer for these two?

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

Kristin, you and I will have to agree to disagree, while mainly agreeing on the main points. ETA: I'd like to point out that I have mentioned reduced-harm several times, and have not spoken about the e-cig as being 100% safe, despite your quotation marks which imply that I did. And you know...

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

I asked this question yesterday, and will ask it again: Why use it at all? It is not a necessary ingredient, there are numerous safety studies in other applications that indicate health concerns, and it frankly does give teeth to the anti's. So why use it?

Is there any DIACETYL in any of your e-liquid or flavors you use to make your e-liquid?

I really don't want to be a PITA, but diacetyl is fda approved for food-flavoring purposes, and your supplier has the list of diacetyl-containing juices on his website. You might consider listing which of your flavors use FlavourArt, and what FA flavor you're using in a blend, that way the...

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

I truly appreciate everyone's stab at being reasonable, and fair, and a chemist. I do. But for me and mine, "no safe determined level of exposure" means just that. There is no reason to have this ingredient in what is a reduced harm product. None. Not to protect the suppliers, not to...

Starting a LIST of diacetyl-free ejuice suppliers. Please, keep to JUST listing the supplier names!

Fiery, not all e-cigs use diacetyl-containing flavoring. Diacetyl is not necessary in e-cigs in any way, shape or form.

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

That's obviously fair, and goes both ways. But I have to say, I'm glad the issue does come up from time to time, even if it is an incendiary, divisive issue. At some point, I'm hoping that we are able to divorce ourselves (at least a separation) from the cigarette industry enough that it...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't mice generally make poor lung-function lab animals in relationship to human lungs? Something about how they have a self-draining lung function?

Fiddles, and Kristin, my concern is that if the industry will not police itself - and telling me it's "gotta be safer than analogs" doesn't equate policing, in my view - then this entire argument will be moot - not just the diacetyl disclosure discussion.

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

Quick question - don't Italians use commas instead of decimal points? I actually assumed the 0,04 or whatnot referred to some infinitesimally small percentage (first to say, I am not a chemist, and damn sure not an internationally trained mathematician!!) - but I just came across something that...

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

The point being, up until an hour or so ago, you were claiming that harm had only occurred at exposure over 20ppm as a fact. In every reply to me, you have offered up another straw man while we patiently wait for your "factual" voice of "reason" to cite your source that the affected consumer had...

    The Anti-Diacetyl Meeting Room

No, you are relying on presenting your opinions as being "factual" and they are not. We're not talking exposure levels of 20ppm and above causing harm, we're talking about a mean exposure level of .02ppm or above being proven to cause harm. (eta: That has no bearing on whether it is the...
