I too have no experience with Ceramic Coils, however I would suggest using an RTA or RDA where you can clean and re wick your coil more often cheaper. It's not that hard to build your own Coils and gives you a much more satisfying Vape as far as flavor.
I use 20% Flavor in my recipes. Since you're new at it; I would suggest starting off with a smaller quantity to hone your recipe and branch out from there. Because it's not a bad thing to throw out 10ml or 15ml, but sure is when it comes to a Gallon. Jus sayin;)
Vape Forward puts out a nice line of reliable; reasonably priced Mods. And I'm all for the Kayfun line of Tanks. A little more pricy but then you get what you pay for.

SS 316 is what I use 27ga or 28 ga. In the meantime dial down the power to about 30 watts and see how that works. And if needed bump it up slightly until you find your Sweet Spot
Kanthal is not for Temp Control; it's used in Power Mode. SS, TI, Zinc are used in Temp Control
I would recommend to back the Wattage down to about 50 watts and you'll probably find your problem go away.
I must say this about most of these Tanks. They are good Tanks once you have them set. But at their best they still are not a Tank that lends itself to "Chain Vaping". They will not keep up. Two hits give it about a minute and your good for another two.
