Single 18650 mod with adjustable TCR?

Unless you want a dual 18650 mod, then you'll want to pick up the big brother to the Evic, the Joyetech Cuboid.

Still waiting on mine. Freaking MyVaporStore and their slow azz shipping.

Is this how a decently built, used Ti coil should look?

When the thickness of the TiO2 layer increases (with heat) it changes the wavelength of light reflection from the metal which makes it appear various colors. You can tell by the color of the coil roughly how hot it has been fired. Blue is OK. It will eventually turn silverish/grey and after...

TC beyond Ni200: Nickel Purity, Dicodes; Ti, SS, Resistherm NiFe30; Coefficient of Resistance

I am sure there's plenty of places in the U.S. that can and do manufacture all of these alloys as wire. Problem is getting them to sell it in anything smaller than a semi-truck load.

    DNA 200 Watt

I smell BS. You got a link for that? Or any kind of proof?

I blame the hipsters with handlebar mustaches. They are the problem, imo.

True, but you have a lot more money to spend on other things.

TC beyond Ni200: Nickel Purity, Dicodes; Ti, SS, Resistherm NiFe30; Coefficient of Resistance

Just ordered me a cheap Chinese digital thermometer with a type K thermocouple. Now, I can do my own temp testing. Anyone else have a thermocouple you use for this?

TC beyond Ni200: Nickel Purity, Dicodes; Ti, SS, Resistherm NiFe30; Coefficient of Resistance

Temp protection does not mean there is an error, it only means you have hit the temp limit you set it to. As the other guy said, think of it like a thermostat on your home AC unit. For example, let's assume you leave for the winter and when you come home, your house is freezing at 0C/32F. You...

    Titanium wire, vaping and safety

Here's a graphic I made for a titanium dry burning profile. Made it black on a white background so it stands out more and so that you don't use it accidentally. Setup a profile. I set mine to fire at 450F/232C. Go to the "special" tab and set the TCR to .00732. Set the power to whatever...

    DNA 200 Custom Screens (128x32)

Did you put some sort of red tinted screen protector on? Or is there some hack I am not aware of that somehow changes the monochrome screen?

Cubis Tank (It needs its own thread)

Surprised no one has made a thread about this tank yet. I do not use clearomizers at all anymore, but I am buying this SOB. Can't wait till I get it in the mail. The Cubis is 100% leak proof from the bottom (it can't possibly leak since it is 100% a solid at the bottom). The airflow is at...

    SS 316 Wire & DNA200

Also, in regard to Daniel's temperature probe tests, he only tested at 400°F. I wish he would give us a wider range of tests. Why? Because the TCR will be a bit different at each temperature. So, the TCR he used might be more accurate for 400F than it is for 450 or 500. That's the whole...

    SS 316 Wire & DNA200

316 stainless has a low TCR, which means it isn't going to be as accurate and smooth in sensing temperature. However, the DNA does a better job of it than most any other mod and you can make it work pretty well. Typically with TC, you want a higher resistance -- as high as you can get inside...

TC beyond Ni200: Nickel Purity, Dicodes; Ti, SS, Resistherm NiFe30; Coefficient of Resistance

430 SS is a grade without nickel in it. 304/316/317 all have around 8% nickel in them. 430 has a higher TCR, which means it's more sensitive to temperature fluctuations and better for TC mods. However, the lack of nickel, means it is less corrosion resistant. Now the question is does this...

TC beyond Ni200: Nickel Purity, Dicodes; Ti, SS, Resistherm NiFe30; Coefficient of Resistance

The symmetry looks pretty good to me. I've noticed SS is easy to work with and make evenly spaced.

    Joyetech Cubis

I got a Cubis (the tank) in the mail. Still waiting on it, but should be any day now. I am an ardent Subtank mini fanboi, but I just love the leakproof design of this tank. If it vapes half decent, it may become my ADV. I wish it had an RBA, but from what I see of the coils (in the reviews)...

    Foray into temperature control

In an unregulated mod, coil resistance obviously matters. In regulated mods it doesn't matter at all (as far as the batteries are concerned). Basically, in mech mods, it all boils down to Ohm's law which is : I = V/R Since parallel boxes effectively double the amps, then you simply take your...

    Foray into temperature control

Series doubles the voltage, not the amp limit Parallel doubles the amps but not the voltage So, if you're running two 3.7v batteries in series, they become one 7.4v battery at the same amp rating. Two 2500mAh batteries in series become one 2500mAh battery with twice the voltage. Now, the...

    DNA 200 Watt

If you leave your power to, say 200w, or some number that is obviously more than needed, and if you just let the device regulate the power down to maintain your temp, then sure. That works. But, from a physics perspective, power determines vapor, not temperature.
