I just made a twisted 26ga coil for my STM. I can tell it's going to take some watts to fire it. Probably will decrease the battery life in my Koopor. It doesn't even turn orange on steam-engine until 80 watts. -

I can tell you one downside -- it has nickel in it. -

I agree with you that it will probably end up being a big problem. I hope I am wrong. I try to avoid diketones (I DIY my liquid), but I can't guarantee that all my flavors are free of them. So, hopefully, any I do get is at an acceptable level. Also, LOL @ your avatar. -

Yikes, that seems like a major flaw. The mod should only worry about the resistance of the coil and should never "assume" anything about airflow or any other variable. Once the coil's resistance hits the value that correlates to your set temp, it should attempt to keep it there and no higher... -

As long as you have a good atty and a really stable coil between the post screws, then the coil's resistance will ONLY vary based on the temperature of the room. And even if that happens, it doesn't affect anything because the mod always uses your locked resistance as the baseline. (Some mods... -

What gauge wire were you using for the .15Ω coil? And what gauge wire for the 1Ω coil? Building a 1Ω coil with nickel must be a PITA. Even with 32 gauge wire, you need over 30 wraps around a 3mm bit. -

Yes, quite a variance. I think what is going to have to happen is vendors of wire are going to have to do their own testing (with a thermocouple) and provide us with the proper TCR for their wire in the vaping range. It only needs to be accurate between 300-600°F. Based on my very rudimentary... -
