    No, KR-808D1's are not compatible with 901 batteries without a adapter. Although they will fit, 901 batteries do not have the vent holes needed to draw air into the bottom of the 808 carto, since 901 atty's draw air through a hole on the side of it.

    The Buzz Pro from Notcigs.com is on sale for $129 this week...its variable voltage and will take the cr123a's that your V3 takes. Yeah as for me, 3.7 is too low...and 6v is way too high! I stay at around 4.5-5v with my Provari...it makes such a difference when you can adjust your voltage.

    I've seen someone using these Clear eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer (Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartos)...they hold about 3-4mls of liquid...and I believe you can leave them on when you close the Darwin (I've seen pictures). Or you can try out a 3" gooseneck with any tank.
