Cotton Balls or Japanese Cotton
I used organic cotton balls for a long time and then I was introduced to rayon. No more cotton for me! No funky taste and last much longer. Wicks better too.- Equilibrium

This is my first woodvil so I'll let you know. I am a woodworker myself... cabinets and furniture and turn bowls and things like that. It works great on those. ETA.. like you said though... if you don't reapply it fades. I imagine you would have to reapply monthly with something that gets...- Equilibrium
