There's another argument for cotton. It wicks faster than normal silica. With microcoils, the diameter is so small that silica doesn't keep up with the wicking. 3mm is about twice too big. That is correct. You can heat up any wicking material to the point of destruction. White hot is too hot. Red hot is good for nextel, and too hot of regular silica.
