Kinda giving pipes a break for a while. But hey, you can never have too many bowl to hold all the vaping detritus that builds up.
Made from a root ball of a juniper bush.
A couple from Russian olive
Some manzanita burls
And some outpourings from a sick mind. Square turning like...
Just finished the lathe work on the body. Olivewood with a CA finish
Had to wait almost 2 months for the moisture content to drop low enough to work with.
Have to let the glue dry for a couple hours, then I will trim the bottom to adjust the standing angle.
Dropped the Claro Walnut burl...with unhappy results.
So grabbed a piece of Buckeye burl, left a little more size everywhere.
Only 3mm of inset on bottom, still plenty of room to adjust voltage.
*note to self....Hold On To It...Dummy!!!
Figured I would spend some time figuring out how to make covers for Ego type batteries.
Kind of challenging to make them so that they can be changed to the new batts when the old ones croak.
Very simple shapes for now. Concentrating on the finish for now. CA then friction polish then HUT wax...
18650 Bottom feeder, 3ml bottle
Diabolical piece of Claro Walnut. No switch, just button
Battery held in place by magnet. Recessed drip well.
A little bit of clean up left for the finish.
Pictures don't do the wood justice.
I just decided that the Xcaliber was too shiney and slick. the disassembly was pretty straightforward. Sanded on metal lathe.
hit with primer and then "Smoke" colored paint.
18650 or 18500 w/Kick PurpleHeart and BlackPalm
The Purple started coming out pretty well during the Buffing.
The BlackPalm is a nice contrast to the Purpleheart
It will gain a much more even color as time goes on.
Sealed the Grain with CA prior to final sanding.
Was cleaning out the garage and found this little gem from the past. Seems like I never got around to making this into a stick shift nob.
Just barely large enough to hold the 18350.
