Comment by 'cigatron' in 'Capillary action of silica vs rayon'

Lol, I have almost a full box of KGD around here somewhere but yeah, once I switched to Rayon there was no looking back. I tried a sample of Kendo from a local B&M some months ago and was impressed with the juice transport speed. I'll send you a sample.

Nice to know Mike, thanks for the continued testing of vaping tech. I would be interested in seeing a Kendo Premium Gold cotton vs. Rayon capillary test. The results may amaze you. Not saying I'm switching from rayon to Kendo, cotton always leaves an organic footprint on the flavor but it does...

Comment by 'cigatron' in 'Real Life temp measurements inside a 2016 era atty'

Aaaah, but the thermocouple tells only actual temp, not whether a DNA controls temp setting accurately. In order to prove that you first have to ensure that the wire and cvs curves match. Example: say your wire tfr at 420°f is low due to mfg variance, and the cvs curve is correct at 420°f (per...

Great info Mike, thanks for the time and effort to do these tests for us all. I would be interested in seeing one more test using the exact same setup except using dry cotton. . If that setup begins to lightly brown the dry cotton in the center of the coil at 420°f you can be certain that the...

How tank size effects your vape (the physics of it)

:danger: Helpful Techie Stuff :danger: So as we lay awake at night contemplating the behaviours of varying tank sizes and shapes it may be helpful to consider a couple of known scientific aspects of liquids and gases. First, gases (air included) are compressible and expandable. This...

Reverse Puffing BCC's to Aid in Juice Flow

Sometimes after refilling my kanger BCC's I experience a reduced juice flow causing less than cloudy vapes. Even dry hitting at times. Don't know if reverse puffing has been written on before so I'm not claiming I thought of this. The process: If you experience dry hits or a slight burny taste...

DO MICROCOIL WINDS ADHERE, STICK OR FUSE TOGETHER? part 2

Note: If you haven't already; read part 1 first. Lets start by defining a few words in laymans terms. Adhesion: bonding together of unlike substances (molecules in our case) Fused: or fusing: joining together of like substances in the molten or near molten state. Alumina: Aluminum oxide: the...

Do microcoil winds adhere, stick or fuse together?

Short answer: Only if contaminated with flavored juice. Many of you may have noticed that the winds of old gunky coils removed from tanks or drippers seem to be stuck together. Gently pulling on the legs reveals that they are indeed stuck together. Firmly adhered at that. But lesser so if the...

Comment by 'cigatron' in 'Coils: Do thicker wires ACTUALLY give you a warmer vape?'

Awesome post kiwi! I love it when science confirms observation. This the very reason why I have always used 30awg in protanks. Would use 32 but alas, the grommets are too slippery to provide a consistantly stable build. Using smaller diameter wire at a given resistance greatly increases battery...

Cigatron Coil Winder (Cigamajig) updated w/ fab & use info

PRO's: 1. It's nearly free 2. Easy to use if you have big hands and/or arthritis 3. Easy to count your turns because it's square instead of round. Count in quarter turns ie. 1,2,3-1. 1,2,3-2. 1,2,3-3 etc. 4. Provides better leverage because it's larger and has flat sides to grip. 5. Faster...
