Coming up for 11 years in late October. I still use a stainless steel Vamo, and still vape menthol. It got a lot harder here in Australia when they banned nicotine juice but I stocked up well before the change and haven't yet had to deal with a doctor's certificate to obtain supplies.
I also...
That's awesome. I'm still living in the yacht I bought with the first year's savings. Honestly I lost track of how long I've been off the smokes, and how much I've saved. It's a great achievement.
Tomorrow marks the end of my fourth year without cigarettes. Apart from three weeks where I couldn't obtain supplies I've had a dream run. Since my signature line savings counter seems to have vanished I did a manual estimate and figure I've saved about AU$47,216 in all. That's a nice chunk of...
Hi guys 'n gals,
Today marks exactly three years since I gave up smoking. I've saved a fortune!! (see below in signature)
Now using a stainless steel Vamo and still enjoying menthol juice. The SS unit lasts far longer here on my yacht, other e-cigs tended to corrode really badly in the marine...
Busted my excellent run early this year. I crewed on a yacht to New Zealand and the darned cartos I took with me were so leaky I lost about 50ml of liquid on the trip. Got to NZ with nothing to vape and no place to buy supplies. I went back to smoking for about 3 weeks but the cost of cigarettes...
One year today! Wow, life's great now. :toast:
I got a big grin on my face from reading the comments above. Pictures of the yachts have been posted elsewhere I think. But here's a pic of the one I'm on at the moment, in Brisbane. I'm heading back to Sydney in about 9 days to work on the other...
Haven't been on here in a few months due to being on board my Sydney yacht. Now in Brisbane at my brother's place and have the leisure - and the internet connection - to update on my vaping experiences.
Gave up smoking on 6th October and to date have had ONE cigarette, a few days after my...
Spent NYE on board my yacht watching the fireworks across Sydney Harbour. Just as well, because I had ordered some new 18650 batteries and they didn't fit into the Lavatube. So I had 3 dead batteries and nothing to vape. Swedish Snus saved the day, I highly recommend keeping some for emergencies.
Already did. I bought myself a second yacht with the money I've saved. Pics here:

Life just keeps getting better.
Last time I gave up seriously was 1973, and I lasted 12 weeks. Yesterday marked the equal of that record, meaning that I can now consider myself an ex-smoker.
E-cigarettes are fantastic.
It gets better than that. To celebrate 8 weeks without a cigarette I just bought another one, this time a Tasman 30'er. It cost me just slightly more than I would have spent in 10 weeks as a smoker.
Yeah good point, that was a bit ambiguous. Truth is that buying batteries like this from HK can be a bit of a crapshoot, no idea what it actually is under that label or whether it's already run down. I'm suspecting low internal battery resistance as the issue with the charger, requiring a high...
I bought UltraFire 4200mAh batteries off ebay for an insanely cheap price. Like four for $6.30 or something. Had trouble charging them using a standard XTAR charger so the vendor gave me a refund.
Turns out the problem was in the USB adapter, the 500mAh units (car or mains, I tried both) won't...
Yeah, me too. It was actually 50 a day but a few weeks before I bought my first e-cig my usage jumped to 60 a day, nothing I could do was satisfying my need for nicotine. I have a feeling these things may have saved my life.
Finally got the batteries for my Lavatube today, awesome device!
There are many other components of cigarettes that are addictive, but they're minor compared to nicotine. Mostly these urges dissipate when you inspect them. Some people find a certain element lacking that they can't do without, at which time it's worth trying WTA (see the search box).
As week four drew to a close there were a few notable events to recall, but the overall summary for the week is that I'm satisfied with vaping as an alternative to smoking.
I'm still using the eGo 1100mAh batteries with a 2.5ml DCT. They're best when freshly charged but, as with all other units...
I won't be satisfied until I get one that is variable wattage, tests and compensates for the viscosity of the juice, vapes it for me and writes a report on how it tastes. I mean, how hard is that to achieve. Am I right?
(irony alert)
