Love your work, bap!! I was looking at some steam punk stuff a couple of weeks ago and was just mesmerized. Don't know what exactly it is about it, but it's pretty damn cool. Reminds me of Wild Wild West :)
I do like the way that Smithy 1220 LTD looks (as far as features) but it can't be...
Neat little unit. Thanks for the vid. I, for one, commend you on your English...it is far, far better than my French...c'est la vie.
Be sure to give us a follow-up once you have used it a while longer as things do tend to grow on you or show there weaknesses after time.
Bap, I AM going to get a lathe (damnit) and I also have the HiTorque (Sieg SC4) on my short list. But, have you considered the Grizzly G0516? It's a almost exactly the same price (actually about $50 less delivered from Amazon) and is a 10" X 22" Sieg C6-based unit (actually an M6...but more on...
Very nice! I love stainless in almost anything.
Hey, since you're a metal guy, I'll ask...I'm looking at getting a home (hobby grade) metal lathe under $2000 and was wondering if you might have some suggestions. I'm currently leaning toward the Grizzly G0516 for several reasons most notably...
"Fishwick"...I like it!
Twice now I have been vaping along and suddenly got a dry hit on my DuD...say what?...only to find I was out of juice. Man, I need to order some glass tanks from IBT!
Still struggling with mastering SketchUp enough to get a decent drawing together...but I'm...
I tried a die on one of my first wicks and ended up just grinding it down and then breaking off. I have an idea on how to get the spiral more dead-on AND make more-or-less perfect wicks...I'll see if I can get this new modeling software to work with me and produce a drawing of the concept.
I tried this as well and I think that the issue is two-fold: 1 - the material is so granular that the bit cannot always cut a clean path; it's always a series of collisions with hard particles that it cannot cut...which causes crumbling rather than cutting. 2 - because the material is...
Nice, bap. Couple of thoughts: the coil & wick will be quite a distance from the air hole (I assume a side-of-cap air hole) and, with the wick in the center, there will be no way to tilt the atty to improve wicking.
bap, that square wick looks wicked :D You might consider rounding the top edges like below to possibly increase vapor production by having those surfaces closer to the heat.
Cutting out sections on either side below (sort of continuing the contour above) might further increase vapor and...
I just realized that I completely neglected to mention that all of the air stones have been shipped out. I'm not certain that they will actually be "in process" until this morning (Monday) as I did not get them all into the system until late afternoon on Saturday due to the fact that I had hell...
Not necessarily; they should help heat the stone which, in turn, would vaporize the juice. However, holes through the core of the wicking media (the stone) might impede juice flow somewhat. The only way to find out for sure would be to try it and compare to an equal-sized wick done with a...
Agreed. Do the 5 clicks, it should flash 3 times and be off. Then press the button like you're going to fire it and it should do nothing (no light). Click 5 times again and it will flash a few times and be on. If you turn it off, check to verify, wait a few minutes and it turns itself back...
That could be taken multiple ways ;) Especially if your mind is eternally in the gutter, like mine
Don't think I've mentioned this before, but I really admire your wooden box mod collection...nice stuff!
Nice find on the core bits, guys. That would be spectacular if we could find one that worked...cut a blank of material the proper thickness (with a wet saw if available), take it to the drill press and pop out a half dozen wicks in a matter of minutes.
Pete and gdeal, I am able to release only...
