I also find that occasionally when I need to help out liquid flow a bit, I need to open the top fill port, watch some bubbles, and close. Keeps it nicely saturated if it's struggling.

If the resistance reading is off, and it's a VW device, would tthat not mean that the power delivery would be off?

I forgot to take off my orings before the alcohol bath(s) and it didn't seem to be an issue. I do recommend taking out the 510 connection screw as it had some residue on it that probably wouldn't have been cleaned if i left it installed.
