I once coated a mech with flexseal. Feel was alright but the coating would move if it got too warm(just body heat really). If the coating is heat resistant I could see it working.

crackling for me tends to indicate that the juice going into the coil isn't getting enough airflow. If its already open all the way then you might need to pull harder (faster airflow will produce more vapor, less crackling in my experience)

Dollar tree, flavor injector (think giant syringe with metal tip with 2 or 3 holes towards bottom). 30ml marked off by ml. Only thing I use now. Found in the kitchen utensils section.

Yep, when the battery runs down its output is closer to the low voltage that you've set so it won't heat the coil up as fast. If the coil is getting red hot its already burning liquid and filler material if you're using a cartomizer.
