I've found that it really depends on the flavors. Some last 6 months before they really start to change profile and I have had others up to I think four or so years and they are still fine. Mostly my nose will tell me. If it has any lemon in it, the lemon will usually start to over load the...
I think you "can" be just as accurate with either method but I am a strong supporter of weight based mixing.
Three main reasons:
Ease of use: Once you are set up it is just plain quicker and easier.
Repeatablility: There is no reading a meniscus or left over in the syringe or cylinder...
I personally would not use one of the little "dope dealer" scales such as the op shows. Not only does it not have enough capacity but one spill would probably ruin it do to it's design with the level scaling surface and controls. The difference in price for a decent 500g scale is minimal...
Hi brewbear, haven't been as active on the forum (of the net in general) lately but I see your questions were answered quite nicely by IDJoe. There are a bunch of good folks that will help you out if you ask a question in this thread.
Welcome to the way of the weigh!
Hi VD and welcome to the forum. As listed above, GBO does a great job for bottles. I usually buy by the case so the prices are quite good there. They have ALL kinds of bottles. I think the blogs are accessible via profile. I think they are mostly device specific. Welcome to the way of the...
That sounds like some nasty Nic. and I'm sure after that amount of time it is gross. Trash that nic and get some fresh stuff. Refrigerate or freeze in glass. This may be why you can't taste some of your juices. Your oxidated Nic. could be drowning out the flavors.
Time to learn the way of the weigh! As soon as you become comfortable with it you will wonder how you ever used syringes. It is awesome that the mods stickied this for me. I think a lot of people still find and use it for reference. If you have any questions, were out here.
I think TH and peppery kind of go hand and hand here but if I was aiming for a scratchier hit but trying to control peppery I would take samples as it changes color. Probably every 5 days or so after it starts to change. Find the flavor you like and then you can put it back in the...
As others have stated, the amount of alcohol in the flavoring and then the tiny percentage of the flavor that we use drops it down to such a small percentage it is really insignificant. A ripe banana probably has a higher alcohol content then your finished juice. Also, you steep alcohol...
I also strongly suggest "aging" your nic. as I have to others before with the same peramaters. Take a small sample about half full, lid on, and put it in a warm windowsill for a week or two until it turns a nice dark color. You can burp it every now and again to introduce some fresh oxygen...
I have mixed a LOT of juice so I have it down pretty pat. I have timed myself and I can mix a 120ml bottle of my ADV with five flavors in 1minute and 40seconds without rushing.
The most time I spend is on the interwebs pursing new recipes and ideas.
Oh, and when I'm in for a long session, I...
If you do them properly and you have your values correct, there should be no difference what so ever. If there is any significant difference, there was an error in measurement.
Try this: Take a small clear bottle half full of 100mg/ml and leave it in a warm window with full sun for about three weeks. Remember to open it often to let in some fresh oxygen. That stuff should have a mule kick to it. I did this completely by accident and it was so strong that I had to...
