As long as you have something like an eraser (SxD engineering) to hold the wire to the spool you should be able to make an auto feed type deal if winding on the mandrel. I don't think it will be too difficult to make this type of thing happen, it's more so finding the free time to put the idea...

So I'm thinking on the side that you wind... Drill a hole into the gizmo to where you can put a mandrel through the spool of kanthal or bolt to hold it to the mounting part of the gizmo and let the wire feed up to the winding mandrel. When I get some free time I'll try to mock something up but...

man i must be dumb... while i didnt break it and it's working now when installing the pin I thought it had to be tight and with every flathead I could find i just couldn't hold the pin, it would spin. That is by far the hardest part of the entire installation. at least it works!
