Yeah I use the SB and though I used to like the flat carts, I also align my wick to the cart which poses a problem with the position of the switch.
The round carts work just fine though.... no complaints.
This is tragic.

This might answer your Q about the way the endcap switch works.
The switch interrupts the neg connection to the flashlight housing. The housing acts as the ground.

well if its the standard flashlight everybody uses then you should be able to simply remove the old switch in the tail and replace it with the new one in the same configuration as the original.
You're only wanting to replace the switch action...not add a second switch. So there aren't any...
