Nobody in my town sells kanthal wire I'm an amateur jeweler and have sterling and fine silver wire in 26, 28 &30 awg. Sterling is 92.5% silver with the other 7.5% being copper and fine silver being at least 99.9% silver by law but probably 100% are these safe to use as an alternative?

I recently bought an AGA-T2 and am using ss mesh with 32gauge kanthal coiled 3x around the ss mesh. My coils look evenly spaced but I'm getting a hot spot between the + post and the steel mesh. It reads 1.3 on my segelei z max then goes to a low load display. How do I remedy the hot spot? Thanks.
