The other thing to think about 're rattling buttons is if they are made to to tight a tolerance, eventually they will stick. Add a drop of juice or two and some dust over time and bam, everyone starts complaining about the buttons sticking. I think VS have designed them this way for a reason...

If it says check batt, it's checking the batt, which is what it does every time it turns on (part of the built in safety) wether or not it says it. If it says weak batt all the time, it may be sensing excessive batt sag but as others said it is a quirk that comes if from time to time with them.
