I'll chime in with an update. The Proteus + Penelopev4 really does work, but it's not exactly for the faint of heart. You have to be a craftsy type who loves to play with mechnical things. The coils are non-trivial to build and fit in that tiny little space, but it can be done. Expect much...

This is a picture of the "inner assembly" only (secured with an o-ring since otherwise the extension-post piece wouldn't screw on tightly). No shorting here - but notice that the insulation disk and the lower post-disk are not lining up (which looks as if it might be due to the way the black...

I'm still having problems with one of the atomizers, Imeo. One is working perfectly, but I'm suspecting a short in the second Penny V4 Mini. (To clarify, not a short in the coil, but a short in the actual atomizer itself.) Still trying to determine what's going on there. We have pretty much...

Finally have things almost in working order. Using (or more precisely, my wife is using) a Penny V4 Mini on a Proteus. Other than battery life, we're still facing one pretty minor problem, and that's minor leakage which nevertheless easily blows out. Spitting has been almost completely...

For those who want more precise battery life estimates, at a moderate level of all day vaping (nothing excessive, very low (200-220) temperatures, and between 2-3/ml of juice) you're looking at running through about 4-5 batteries per day.

Will look into this. Thanks for the tip!

I found this: If you watch for a minute from the 1h25m point, you can see the VIR being popped out. It looks like it unscrews, and Imeo doesn't seem to be being too careful with it?

Ok, so Proteus + Penny v4 #2 is working just fine. No odd button issues. Also getting much less spitting, but this is perhaps because of the new coil wrap. (What seems to be working very well is using 3mm Titanium G1 with about 9-10 2.5mm wraps @ .64 ohms.) I expect spitting to be eliminated...

Getting some odd behavior from the Proteus. It will display the temperature randomly for no reason. It will change the temperature for no reason. It will occasionally lock itself for no reason. Sometimes you can only get into the increase temperature menu, when you were trying to get into...

Got it. Heh. No, I don't have four chargers. I have one charger which charges four batteries at a time. To make the Proteus work in my household, I'd need to have four chargers which charge four batteries at a time and I'd need to be carting around six to eight batteries at a time. For...

Glad we agree! But the whole point of the Proteus was to provide a nice, slim vaping device. So it was, I think, somewhat misleading to suggest that it would work with .50mm wire. It doesn't (unless you're using an atomizer which fattens up the device at the top, which of course results in...

    You didn't complete that thought.

28 gauge is .32mm. That'll work just fine and is not significantly or interestingly distinguishable from the .30mm I recommended. Imeo stated this, however: If you're using a Penelope v4 Mini, have fun with .50mm wire. It won't work. Perhaps you can get that kind of wire to work with...

The estimate of one tank per battery is about right. You're looking at an average of maybe 2 mL per battery. The Penelope v4 holds 2.5 mL, I think. Get used to battery swapping? I have mixed feeling about this device. My wife loves it, and it works for her. It doesn't work for me. Not...

A few points. First, you need thin wire. About .30mm Titanium Grade 1. The Proteus won't work with much thicker than that. You also need to be an expert coil winder. These are tight very coils with multiple 2mm wraps. Second, on the orange lights. The guide (which I edited) is...

Have a new battery charger on the way. Going to order a set of new batteries as well, for further testing, since Proteus is now reporting that the batteries are shot. Will take a week or so for more results to come in.

Imeo has railed against carrying huge battery packs around with you. But if you want to use the Proteus for a day, you're supposed to carry ten ....ing batteries (or more) in your pocket? This is some serious bull.....

So we should also be removing our batteries from the Proteus when it's not in use, or the Proteus will drain them to the point they are almost beyond repair? The device not only doesn't have any battery life (one hour per battery does not cut it), but destroys batteries if you don't pull them...

It currently looks like one battery lasts for about one hour. Is that intended? In an almost unused Proteus, and over four days, a top-of-the-line battery (a genuine AW IMR 14500 650) dropped from 4.2V to 1.7V. Within three hours of putting a freshly charged battery in an unused device (with...

I'm starting to lose faith. Maybe it's time for me to sell my Pennies. I was hoping for a nice, slim route out of the analogs. This was supposed to be the Proteus. That's why I picked up the V4 Pennies. I can't wait forever. If you want to buy my two unused V4 Pennies, let me know.
