For the OP, to switch from DTL to MTL, you have to change your eliquid. You said 3mg and I expect it to be 70%Vg. For MTL, you have to increase your Nic to 6mg minimum and you may need to change it to 50/50.For the flavor, you will never get the same flavor from this completely different setups...
