What Are You Up To ECF?

shurpacabra here, checking in from Charlotte, NC. It's a hot one today, perfect for a day drink and a nice light flavored vape. Also bored waiting to go play some disc with a friend. What are you guys vaping atm, both flavor and setup? Vaping some homemade strawberry 50/50 at 6mg with my...

    Does Wattage Really Affect Mechanicals?

Well I got my multimeter yesterday afternoon. I rebuilt my RDA with four 1/16" coils at 6 wraps each (making it a 6/7 wrap I believe?). I did some tests and found that the resistance of my leads is .5 ohms. The resistance of my atty was bouncing between 1.1 and 1.2, making my total resistance...

    Upgrading set up

Without a mechanical you are not going to get much from sub ohming. I can tell you that... 26 gauge = 3.21 Ohms/ft resistance 28 gauge = 5.27 Ohms/ft resistance 30 gauge = 8.36 Ohms/ft resistance 32 gauge = 13.7 Ohms/ft resistance Divide these by 12 to get Ohms/inch resistance and build...

    Hi

Hello from North Carolina. Welcome to the forum, and happy vaping.

    Does Wattage Really Affect Mechanicals?

Ah man that can't be fun. I will be sure to avoid those like the plague. I feel like I read about people saying not to get those actually... it was basically anything with the word "fire" in it like UltraFire and TrustFire and whatnot.

    Does Wattage Really Affect Mechanicals?

That actually puts it into perspective quite well, thanks. I just did the math on the wattage and was concerned. When you're used to VV/VW devices even 10 and 12 watts seems high, so when I saw 88 I got a little freaked!

    Does Wattage Really Affect Mechanicals?

That's crazy Baditude, hope that thing didn't get you! I also don't want anyone to think I'm just doing this like an idiot. This is why I am coming to people more experienced than myself to learn before attempting... or even considering attempting.

    Does Wattage Really Affect Mechanicals?

The fact that this scenario (I considered building a .2 ohm coil) makes the wattage of my mechanical rise to 88 is pretty damn scary to me. So I guess my question is... does the wattage really even matter? Remaining significantly below your battery's rated amp limit is what's most important...

    Does Wattage Really Affect Mechanicals?

WHOAAA what am I looking at? Is that really the post?! Assuming that the calculations are correct, it would be considered "safe" though? (I would never assume calculations are correct, but for sake of the example)

To clone or not to clone

Oh man I just realized I totally assumed we were talking about mechanicals haha. Cloned tanks can be a different story. Sometimes you strike gold and get an amazing RDA/Tank/Whatever for CHEAP. Other times, they are machined by an intoxicated blind man and the airholes don't match up and all...

    Does Wattage Really Affect Mechanicals?

For sake of example, lets say that I have a setup with a 30A 18650 2100mAh 3.7V battery. Lets also say that my RDA is clocking in at .2 Ohms. We are going to use 4.2 Volts here and assume the battery is fully charged. This would mean that I am pushing 88 Watts. Sounds crazy (and I've read of...

To clone or not to clone

Nope. Clones all day. I'm not spending 200+ dollars on a tube you stick a battery in. VapingwithTwisted420 mentioned "if they can make clones that do the exact same thing for 20 or 30 bucks, maybe the real thing isn't so 'high end'". Most people get clones of the same or close to the same...

Is 1/8" Too Big for Quad Coils?

I'm still waiting to get a multimeter, but worst case scenario lets assume I have a quad coil set up at .2 ohms. With a fully charged battery at 4.2 V that would put my wattage at 88, like slippy_eel mentioned before. Is that crazy dangerous? It sounds pretty darn high.

Is 1/8" Too Big for Quad Coils?

My pops has one he is going to give me but right now I am without one. Like I said, I was just wondering if 1/8 sounded insane to anyone. I don't think I'm going into the realm of unsafe or anything, I just didn't know if there were any other downsides to a larger diameter that I was unaware of...

Is 1/8" Too Big for Quad Coils?

Sorry! I did 6 wraps per coil at 26 gauge. My batteries are Efest 30A IMR18650 2100mAh. I just can't use them right now as they are drained. And if by tail you mean the part I snipped coming out of the negative/positive terminal, I'd say around 1-2mm. I snipped them as close to the terminal as I...

Is 1/8" Too Big for Quad Coils?

well... 26 gauge kanthal is about 3.21 Ohms/ft resistance. 3.21 / 12 inches = 0.2675 Ohms/in resistance With about 3 inches of wire per coil, that puts each coil at .8025 Ohms. So .8025 Ohms / 4 coils = .200625 Ohms Assuming my math is right, my set up should be at ~.20 Ohms

Is 1/8" Too Big for Quad Coils?

Thanks. I dunno yet honestly. I could the math without a meter but I haven't yet. They definitely aren't touching anything, they are all suspended. I am just waiting to be able to use it and trying to keep my mind busy haha. I really just wanted to ask to see if anyone thought that size was...

Is 1/8" Too Big for Quad Coils?

I dunno I haven't even been able to use it yet due to battery issues. It's the worst torture ever! I don't think it's going to cause any problems... I just didn't know if that was way too big a diameter for 4 coils. I did a little googling and found several videos with 1/8" builds with pretty...

Is 1/8" Too Big for Quad Coils?

I built my IGOW-6 today with 26 gauge wire. The inside diameter of my coils is about 1/8". Is that way too big? The coils don't seem to be touching the posts or each other or anything... I just know most people talk about them being 1/16". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, and vape on...

    First Build on IGOW-6

Yeah I'm using 26 gauge. What diameter are your coils? 1/16?
