you really should get an adapter to use 808d-1 cartos on a 901 batt. It has a small air hole like the one in the 901 atty. 808d-1s draw air throught small slot in battery connector that a 901 doesn't have. You can use a 901 atty on a 808d-1 batt no problem.

I dont have the 801 carto but have used 808d-1 and greensmoke cartos. I would put the mouth piece in and just let it sit a little while 1/2 hour or so. Sounds like its dry at the atty . putting it vertical helps get the juice to the other end while filling but lying on its side should be fine...
