    Revamped Blog Post

The new forum software had basically destroyed my DIY math blog post (The Mixing Equation) shortly after I finally got full-time work, and my new job is pretty demanding, so that blog has been in serious need of fixing for some time now. After some frustration, I finally gave up on using the...

    Beginner mistake

If you heat VG to 150 deg F or so, shaking works pretty well.

First flavored DIY mix - OMG!

Give a man a bottle of eliquid, and he will vape for a week. Teach a man to DIY, and he will become an obsessive hoarder of tiny bottles and fall in love with a crockpot:laugh:. Enjoy the ride, and do keep notes.

    DIY Liquid. Safety and precautions?

In the 9 months I have been mixing, I have never used anything but hot tap water for cleaning. Sterility is highly over rated, IMO.

Freezing can contribute to nic coming out of the mix, particularly with high nic levels and max VG.

Looking to get into DIY Juice. Need advice

Regarding flavor percentages, it varies a lot with what you are using. Some need 15% or more, others are disgustingly strong at 5%. First resource is the place where you bought it and/or the manufacturer's website. See if they provide a recommended percentage range, then start at the low end...

First time (for real this time) DIY

Math looks good to me, assuming the flavor as 100% VG (which is plenty close enough for your purposes). Nic comes out to 6 mg/ml, in case you wanted verification of that. For the flavorings, you are off to reasonable start, and you can let your taste be your guide moving forward. I will add...

    New with a question

I mix my unflavored at 10% DW, 90% VG. When I use flavors, I actually tend to add a little more water to reduce coil gunking.

What drove you to DIY juice crafting?

Initially, it was all about cost for me. I bought some premade unflavored because it was cheaper, and found that I liked it. Then I looked around a bit and realized I could make my own unflavored for a trivial cost. I picked up one flavoring with my first DIY order for the heck of it. Then I...

Quick question about changing Nic %

There is an online calculator that can be useful for this, although it is trial and error: DIY E-Liquid Combining Calculator If you enjoy algebra, I have a blog post that describes the math: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/boletus/6845-mixing-equation.html

    Throwin it all Together

Here is an online calculator that is useful for combing juices. You can use the nicotine field for flavoring to find a resultant concentration for that as well. It is trial and error though. DIY E-Liquid Combining Calculator

They all use food flavorings as bases, but most of the dedicated ejuice flavorings are stronger and generally free of oils and sugars/starches. ETA: The exception would be some tobacco flavorings, which might be tobacco extracts, sometimes in combination with food flavorings.

Rowdy, I'm guessing that Birmingham is a pretty humid environment, like where I live but warmer. Have you had any issues with this material absorbing moisture from the air and/or molding? If not, how long have you had it around?

Rowdy is a genius at turning free or really cheap materials into useful equipment. Check his blogs for the portable, self-contained mixing station; I think it is absolutely brilliant. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/rowdyplace/5907-homemade-diy-tools.html

    FlavourArt 7 Leafs - Wow

I recently picked this one up. I find it a bit floral and aromatic by itself at 2%, but I am liking it mixed with Hangsen RY1, as I find that rounds it out for my taste by adding some of the "lower/warm" notes, if that makes any sense. I haven't nailed down a ratio for that mixture wet, but it...

Generally speaking, flavorings that are marketed for food products are not going to work as well as those sold specifically for eliquid.

    Tobacco Flavored Extracts/Flavoring....

You will want to use an ejuice calculator application to dial in your percentages. And unless you are pretty flexible with your target nicotine level, you may want to get the nic base stronger than your usual vape and get some VG and/or PG to get the nic concentration where you want it.
