Update 2 Well, after some miscommunication betw my sister and I, there seems to be some interest in the e-cigs I gifted to my 2 nieces and they decided to keep them. I can only keep my fingers crossed at this time.

NO! I just realized this morning if one disconnects the battery from the atomizer during the cleaning process (the 14 blinking LED), it undermines the purpose of cleaning the atomizer.

It would be up to the competing companies to write the NYT suggesting a correction and/or to inform the Times and their readers of the facts, history and current existence of multiple companies, models, etc. (at least the existence of their own company, i.e., Janty, NJoy)
