My second mod build ever. First was an unregulated mosfet dual 18650 in a Hammy 1590g box. This one is regulated with a Naos Raptor 20A chip. It's a custom enclosure that I'm trying to get mass produced. It's kinda like pulling the teeth of a drunken chimpanzee. After completing this build, I...
if you calculate the difference in watt hours between the 2s and 3s packs, you can see that there may well be a difference in how long it would last, but in practice, it might not be as much as the math says. I seem to recall from the spec sheet that the raptor chip is more efficient at higher...
Thanks, mamu. I am using the SUP75P03 P-ch MOSFET. Am I correct in the belief that I still need the 4.7k dropping resistor between the "on/off" and "gnd" tab on the board as shown in the OP? My intent is to build it "mostly" per that diagram. I'm using the fuses, but omitting the reverse...
This may be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyways. Is there a dropping resistor used on the FET, as one would with an unregulated set-up? I haven't seen any reference to it, but there are a few pics in the thread where people have used one.
Thanks for the heads up, David. In the future, I might try a tact button, but for the first build, It's going into a custom CNC aluminum box originally intended as a unregulated mosfet box. It's already cut for a big gnarly AV button.
I've got a few chips on the way, as well as most of the little bits. Still looking for smaller switches to fit inside a 1590g box and a fire button with a smaller "internal footprint." I like the bulger AV button I put in my first mod, an unregulated mosfet box, but it takes up a LOT of space...
On RCGroups.com, there is a feature that allows one to bring up only the attachments in a given thread. This lets someone search through big threads by looking at attached pictures, and then back-tracking to the original posts.
It would be REALLY cool if this feature got added to this forum...
Could we get a sticky thread for bits and pieces used to build your own mods?
Maybe a rating system for the general quality of each of the pieces would make it pretty cool, too.
I've got the knowledge to build, but being new, I haven't a clue where most people are getting their part from.
Thanks everyone. I wasn't just looking for "A" shop. I wanted to find "all" the shops around me and info regarding how good of a shop they were. I found the info I was looking for.
Thanks. I think I'll end up building something that I can utilize for all the round cells used in vaping. all the 18---series, and maybe even the 26--- batteries. In the past, for charging, testing, etc of A123 cells, I've made packs with balance leads, as I had no use for single cells.
I'm looking for something like THIS.
But I really want something considerably heavier duty. I wouldn't even want to pull 10A through those puny wires. For test jigs, I usually go a bit overkill so i know the jig itself isn't detrimental to the testing. I may end up having to build something...
